Our charming shop volunteer Blake threw in his two cents on which records we've got that he feels are under-appreciated. Blake "John Cougar" Mellencamp is well known for his taste in classic rock and trippy prog so these picks reflect that. But I was surprised to see some of his other choices. Here are some photos for you to get started exploring. When you come into the shop don't forget to keep an eye out for our "easter eggs"-- they're little reviews of albums handpicked for you by our music loving staff and friends.
For your delight, we've started sneaking what I like to call, "easter eggs" into our inventory. If you really take the time to explore our collection, you'll stumble upon little notes attached to what our staff considers the best underappreciated vinyl on the floor. These notes contain brief, sometimes humorous reviews of the albums. However, for an added bonus, a few of the easter egg albums also have concert tickets hidden in the sleeves! We want you to have fun in the shop so, go buck. Look for the easter egg albums, take your new faves to the listening station, and maybe score a concert on us. Here is a gallery of our reviews thus far so you can get a sense of the excitement. First up for this experiment are some picks by Kelsey Simpson, Mistress of Zines, 80's synth, and all things anarchist punk.
Tickets up for grabs this round are OAR on August 28th and Jeff Beck and Paul Rodgers on August 10th!
Last Tuesday, the Irvington Vinyl & Books stage hosted four awesome poets, Gizelle Fletcher and John Leo from Indy and then Damian Rucci and Nathanael Stolte out of New York! It was an amazing time.
Here are some photos from the event!
Hey Indianapolis! We're now open and ready for you to come on through. We've got lots of goodies for you and we'll be expanding the selection available to you on the floor as we start working on sorting all our inventory! Just a reminder, we've got only a quarter of our current stock out for purchase and we'll be rotating new product in as often as we can!
We've also got more new books! July 5th is release date for lots of amazing titles! Follow us on Instagram or Facebook to find out more.
