It Is Hard Being a Person: Self-Care and Journaling

Does "self-care" mean anything anymore, now that it's showing up as a hashtag, the subject of Buzzfeed listicles, and, well, as workshop topics like this one? We think so, but we need to do some work to discover what it actually means. Join us for a night of learning, discussion, art-making, and journaling to discover self-care for yourself! Social worker and educator Mary-Margaret Sweeney will guide us through an interactive discussion on what self-care has come to mean, and how to claim it as a meaningful practice. Local artist Megan Hart will guide us in creating an inspiring and beautiful journal as an element of a self-care practice. Not a writer? That's okay! Our journals will incorporate the visual arts of drawing, collaging, found objects, and anything you dang well please. $5-$15 sliding scale donation to participate. Please bring a blank journal (whatever form of that you want!), though we will have a couple on hand just in case.
