No questions asked bill pay support for Black artists and other artists of color living in Indianapolis.

The R/Evolution Fund was developed in response to the ongoing gentrification of Indianapolis. It serves the community of Indianapolis by providing emergency bill-pay relief to BIPOC artists so they may continue creating in times of crisis.

The R/Evolution Fund is cooperatively managed by Irvington Vinyl & Books, The Kheprw Institute, Musical Family Tree, and The Indiana Writers Center. It is held by the Central Indiana Community Foundation. If you are interested in applying for a $500 grant click here.

If you are interested in donating to The R/Evolution Fund please follow this link and fill out the form. As much as possible we’d like to encourage ongoing monthly donations to the fund, as this helps build up consistency for giving. Unfortunately, we cannot set up recurring payments for less than 25.00 at this time.

If you’d like to do a one time donation or give in smaller amounts, please follow this link. In this form, be sure to note The R/Evolution Fund as the recipient. Supporters can also donate via check. Checks should be made out to CICF and note The R/Evolution Fund in the memo line.

this is the 21st century and we need to redefine r/evolution. this planet needs a people’s r/evolution. a humanist r/evolution. r/evolution is not about bloodshed or about going to the mountains and fighting. we will fight if we are forced to but the fundamental goal of r/evolution must be peace.

we need a r/evolution of the mind. we need a r/evolution of the heart. we need a r/evolution of the spirit. the power of the people is stronger than any weapon. a people’s r/evolution can’t be stopped. we need to be weapons of mass construction. weapons of mass love. it’s not enough just to change the system. we need to change ourselves. we have got to make this world user friendly. user friendly.

are you ready to sacrifice to end world hunger. to sacrifice to end colonialism. to end neo-colonialism. to end racism. to end sexism.

r/evolution means the end of exploitation. r/evolution means respecting people from other cultures. r/evolution is creative.

r/evolution means treating your mate as a friend and an equal. r/evolution is sexy.

r/evolution means respecting and learning from your children. r/evolution is beautiful.

r/evolution means protecting the people. the plants. the animals. the air. the water. r/evolution means saving this planet.

r/evolution is love.

Simply put, the R/Evolution Fund provides bill-pay relief to BIPOC artists who live and serve in Indianapolis. Developed in response to the ongoing conversation around gentrification in the city of Indianapolis, this mutual aid initiative gives local businesses and consumers a clear cut way to give back to artists in our city. Part of the reason an art scene remains unstable is because rising property values force artists to move out of neighborhoods just as those same neighborhoods begin to catch the eye of major development interest. As money and infrastructure finally find their way to underserved neighborhoods those neighborhoods change face entirely. The artists and families that built the uniqueness these developers can capitalize on are now visitors, interlopers, and other—rather than the rightful inhabitants of the spaces they created. This is unacceptable. Donating to The R/Evolution Fund is one way we push back. Mutual aid is the path of the future, and here we are, stepping into it together.

In commitment to building safe community transparently, and to accountability, the notes of each board meeting will be posted publicly within one week of each meeting date. It is important that we operate with clear goals and only in that we can meet the needs of those we serve. We currently meet the last Thursday of each month. Find us on social media @therevfund.
